MORTALITY FROM FEMALE BREAST CANCER IN THE STATE OF PARÁ IN BETWEEN 2015 AND 2019.

Introdução

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide³. This pattern is related on different risk factors such as diet, race, hereditary, hormonal diseases, tobacco and alcohol use that contributes to the incidence of breast cancer¹. The late diagnosis is one of the biggest obstacles related to the treatment of this pathology since in Brazil there are no adequate conditions for the screening of the disease².

Objetivos

The objective of the present study is to analyze the epidemiological profile of mortality from female breast cancer in the state of Pará in between 2015 and 2019.

Métodos

This is an exploratory, quantitative study. Only women, of any age, were analyzed using the Technology Department of the public health system (Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde – DATASUS) as a database in between the years 2015 and 2019, in Pará, Brazil.

Resultados

Of the 3,426 women who have died from breast cancer in between 2015 and 2019 in Pará, 89,66% declared themselves brown, 28,45% had between 40 and 49 years old and 82,31% of them were from Belém city. Moreover, the years with the highest mortality rate were 2019, 2018 and 2017 with 838, 785 and 733 deaths, respectively.

Conclusões

The findings of this study showed that some aspects affects more the incidence of breast cancer, of which race factors, age over 40 years and resident in the capital are the most relevant. Besides that, it is crucial to understand the progressive increase in cases tracked in the last years, this data confirms the necessity of an intervention in the health system operating in the state of Pará.
